OIL PAINTS

My recommendations or use what you have

  • TITANIUM WHITE (large)

  • ULTRAMARINE BLUE

  • CERULEAN BLUE

  • QUINACRIDONE RED

  • QUINACRIDONE VIOLET  ( also called THIO Violet) - use instead of Alizarin Crimson

  • CADMIUM ORANGE CADMIUM

  • YELLOW PALE OR LIGHT (or equivalent)

  • CADMIUM RED LIGHT (GRUMBACHER RED is a suitable  & cheaper substitute)

  • VIRIDIAN GREEN  or THALO GREEN (I personally prefer Thalo)

  • OCHRE or YELLOW OCHRE

  • BURNT SIENNA

  • THALO BLUE (Optional)

  • BURNT UMBER (Optional)

 

FOR THE ACRYLIC UNDER PAINTING

 

BRUSHES - One or two, at least 1/2” wide (you can’t use any that have been used in oils

COFFEE CAN OR OTHER CONTAINER  (water for acrylics)

A FLAT PAN of enamel or glass or other surface for mixing acrylics (paper palette for oils does not work well for this)

 

ACRYLIC PAINTS
You won’t need much of these colors since they are only used for a washy under painting, so you may wish to share with a friend in the class.

The colors I recommend are:

  • THALO GREEN

  • QUINACRIDONE VIOLET

  • BURNT SIENNA

  • DIOXAZINE PURPLE

  • ULTRAMARINE BLUE
