Description

This workshop will cover the simplification of my direct approach in understanding characteristics of light, shadow, atmospheric perspective and gradation for application in painting the effects of light.

The class will begin each morning with a spontaneous painterly demonstration/lecture designed to cover essential oil painting techniques: pigment properties, brushes and brushwork, glazing, painting surfaces, problems and solutions.

Emphasis during the four day workshop will be on simplification and organization of darks and lights, value and color relationships, edges, direction and mass to create unique and dynamic compositions, along with focusing on the spirit of each painting.  Through critically "seeing," we will learn how to study light on form, compose it and pull it together for great painting.

A value study and its application to one's painting will be covered.

A good time will be had by all!!

Some basic knowledge of drawing will be helpful.

  • Oil Painting
  • Beginner to professional
  • Instructor demonstrations
  • Individual critiques

Bring your favorite photos, especially those you have been saving for that "challenging" painting.
