Description

This will be an introduction to the basics of gourd crafting. Subjects covered will include a brief explanation of growing gourds, their varied shapes and  how they have been used around the world for functional and decorative purposes throughout history. I will cover how to select one for crafting purposes, the cleaning and preparation for the application of various types   of artwork. Techniques will include relief carving into the gourd shell, pyro-engraving (aka wood burning), the application of various dyes and paints, metal leaf, and stone inlay. We will not finish a completed piece.
