Eucalyptus Trees

The emphasis will be on developing studio pieces from photos and outdoor sketches. How to use outdoor sketches and photographic reference for a larger painting.  Simplifying color to values and temperature and composing from several references.  This will include developing a composition to steps in mixing color, we will cover different techniques for oil and acrylics.  All demonstrations will be in oil.

The class will also cover the studio to efficiently set up your studio, developing a schedule to help you focus on your goals, and exercises that will sharpen your painting skills.

Under the Tumacacori Mission

Oils:
  • Titanium White
  • Cadmium Yellow Light
  • Cadmium Red Light
  • Alizarin Crimson
  • Ultramarine Blue

If using Acrylics, add Thalo Blue, Burnt Sienna, Thalo Green to the above list.

Brushes:

  • White or Bristle Brushes - #2, #4, #6, #8

Canvas Boards:

  • Four - small (4" x 8") for color studies
  • 1 - 16 " x 20" for a larger studio piece

Other Items:

  • Medium Size Palette Knife
  • Outdoor Easel

  • Gamsol or Turpenoid -- Odorless (for oils)
  • Water and Container (for Acrylics)
