A forty-plus year resident of the Prescott
area, I am originally from New Castle, Pennsylvania. I moved west with
my family at age five. I began my artistic training under Virginia
Spencer at Prescott Junior High and have continued my art studies ever
since. I worked briefly in commercial art when just out of college, and
have made my living painting and selling artwork for about twenty years.
Watercolor is my principal medium. I currently work in transparent watercolor on paper. My images are rendered in a traditional, representational style with emphasis on spatial depth and value contrasts. Although I'm intrigued by a wide range of subject matter, I have lately found myself concentrating on images and impressions of the Grand Canyon. I have a superstition that if I can capture those place in Nature which are untouched by human enterprise, I can somehow maintain them in their unblemished state. This undoubtedly explains my fondness for pristine landscape, animals of all kinds and botanical studies. When removed from my artwork, I spend inordinate amounts of time in my garden. I'm also completely fascinated by hand spinning, natural dyeing, elaborate knitting, and Navajo weaving. Contact Yvonne at 928.772.7485 |
