What Are the Benefits of Membership?

How do I Exhibit and Sell My Work at MAG?

  • There are six shows per year; each show lasts two months. Please refer to the attached show schedule for dates and general themes.

  • Intake paperwork for the next show can be found on our website at www.mountainartistsguild.org (Click on gallery/main gallery for intake paperwork)

  • On the day of intake, have your paperwork filled out before you come; please use your artists code assigned to you and make sure your works are properly labeled. Intake is always on a Saturday between 9:00-12:00 am.

  • Have your $15 intake fee ready; be ready to sign up for two four-hour hosting shifts during the show (or pay $40 for a non-sitting fee)

  • You are guaranteed one work in each show, but may have others if they are juried in; you will be called the next day to pick up works that were not accepted.

  • The consignment split is 75% to the artist and 25% to MAG


What Kind of Art Opportunities are Available for Artists at MAG on a Weekly Basis?

  • On Wednesday mornings from 9:00-12:00, we offer group painting in our downstairs workroom. Members $5, non-members $7. Meet with other artists in a low key studio opportunity to work in the medium of your choice; bring your own supplies.

  • On Friday mornings from 9:00-12:00, we offer live (clothed) model portrait painting in our upstairs workroom. Members $10, non-members $15 (includes model’s sitting fee). Use the medium of your choice and bring your own supplies.


What’s Expected of Me as a Gallery Host/Hostess?

  • Work two 4-hour shifts for any show in which you have art; 10:00-2:00 pm weekdays, 11:00-3:00 pm weekends

  • Prepare the gallery to open; lights, climate control, signage at curbs, flag

  • Greet people as they come into the gallery

  • Ring up sales through our online Square system

  • Dust during the down times

  • Bring work to the gallery so patrons can see an “artist at work”

  • Market yourself and share your own work!


Is It a Requirement to attend MAG Membership Meetings?

  • While attendance is not required, we strongly urge attendance so you can meet fellow members and understand the state of affairs of our non-profit organization. We usually have an artist’s demo at the meeting, and it is a fun way to interact with your guild and possibly discover new things.

  • At times, we require a certain percentage of membership to vote on important issues impacting MAG.


What Opportunities do I have to Market My Own Artwork?

  • Spotlight Room Rental; duration – one month

  • Featured Artists Wall Rental; duration – two months (coincides with current show)

  • Prescott City 4th Friday Art Walk; evening reception at MAG the 4th Friday of every month. This is a great time to showcase your work and the gallery with family and friends.

  • You may leave your business cards at the gallery desk for art patrons.

  • A link to your website on our website

  • Opportunity to share your craft and get paid as a workshop instructor

  • As a host or hostess, direct contact with the public to show and discuss your own work
