MAG was honored to present the 2015 scholarship winners at Mountain Artists Guild's April's 4th Friday Member Meeting to a packed house with standing room only.
It was a wonderful opportunity to meet not only the students but also their proud families and friends. Many parents expressed
appreciation that MAG acknowledged their children's talent in awarding financial help. Praise also came from Ann Heine, Prescott High
School art teacher and mentor of four of the scholarship winners. She had attended other award ceremonies and remarked that MAG's was the best she had attended . . .well organized with a nice focus on the students.
Kyli Skinner, Lukas Stogsdill, and Dominic Valk, all from Prescott High School received $1,350 each. Lucia Dianne Villarreal from Bradshaw High School, and Maylauna Rodriguez from Prescott High School received $500 each. Winners were also given a year’s membership in Mountain Artists Guild. The awards were presented by Donna Carver representing MAG and the scholarship program.
During the presentation, Donna Carver, on behalf of MAG, thanked the jurors -- Doug Oliver, Master Artist; Eric Slayton, Master Artist; and Jeri Smith Fornara art collector and benefactor-- for their time, dedication, and expertise. It was wonderful to have them present at the ceremony and have the opportunity to introduce them.
MAG's Annual Scholarship Auction generates all the funds for the scholarship awards. One hundred percent of the proceeds go into a
dedicated scholarship fund.
