Impressionistic, loose painterly brush strokes will be emphasized through numerous demonstrations. We will also be focusing on the landscape and learning new and exciting ways to handle a variety of textures (trees, water, rocks, etc.).

Students will receive daily individual instruction and critiques to help with a more personalized learning experience. Carr’s passion for art and spirited teaching style makes this workshop an inspiring experience painting in watercolor. We will do numerous studies along with more completed paintings to round out the learning process. A great time will be had by all!

Workshop Focus:

  • The “how to’s” of seeing light on form

  • Understanding temperatures of light and shadow

  • Working with edges in creating depth

  • Using value sketches in creating fantastic compositions for our paintings

Photos will be used and explained as a vital and helpful source of information to create that one-of-a-kind painting through the use of light and shadow. Bring your favorite photos of landscapes with great lighting.
